Set up an EMIS user

How to set up an EMIS user for Appt Health integration

To integrate Appt Health with EMIS Web, you’ll need to create a dedicated user account within EMIS. Follow the steps below to complete the setup.

Step 1: Create a new user in EMIS Web

  1. Open the EMIS Web main menu in the top left hand corner of the screen
  2. Navigate to 'Configuration'
  3. Select 'Organisation Configuration'
  4. Now select 'Users'
  5. Select 'Add'
  6. Choose 'Add new user'

Step 2: Enter user details

When setting up the new user, use the following details:

Title: Ms
First name: Appt
Last name: Health
Gender: Not specified
Email: support@appt-health.co.uk
Username: ApptHealthUser
Password: [Set a secure password]
Important: Ensure that the option "User must change password on next sign-in" is not selected.

Step 3: Assign user roles and permissions

1. Go to the Role section.
2. Configure the following:

Job Category: Manager
User Mnemonic: ApptHealthUser
Authorisation for prescriptions: None
Relationship: Associated
Contract start date: Set to today’s date
Contract end date: Leave this field blank (do not set an end date)

Step 4: Configure the user role profile

1. Open User Role Profile from the left-hand menu.
2. Set the RBAC role to "Practice Manager (SJR004)"

Final check before proceeding

Before moving to the next step, make sure you’ve noted:  
✅ The username you created  
✅ The password set for the account
